Learning Support Specialist Teacher 2003-2014 and Substitute Teacher 1998-2003

Key responsibilities:

  • Case managed and provided direct instruction to 14-19 year old students with learning disabilities
  • Administered educational assessments such as the CTOPP, AWMA-2 and DASH
  • Wrote referral letters, interpreted psycho-educational assessments and wrote individualized educational plans
  • Counselled students and their parents on all educational matters related to learning disabilities
  • Supported IGCSE and IB curriculums and served as a student Advisor
  • Member of the Student Support Team, a multi-disciplinary team
  • Liaised with external exam boards regarding the securing of testing accommodations

  • Managed the pedagogical side of the organization and supervised a team of 15+ teachers and seven branch managers
  • Conducted international recruiting for all eight branches, including inducting and orienting all new teaching staff and branch managers

AAC Opisto is Finland’s largest business language school with over 200 employees at 7 branches nationwide, providing language services to corporate clients and governmental ministries

Key responsibilities:

  • Taught English as an Additional Language to groups and individuals in weekly, intensive and special course formats
  • Lead a team of 18+ teachers and provided teacher training to all seven branches
  • Represented the firm on recruiting trips at the annual TESOL conference in the USA
